We build long-term partnerships with schools across east London supporting the delivery of high-quality dance both in curriculum and out of school hours.

We offer curriculum enhancement at all Key Stages, across the three interrelated processes of performing, composing and appreciating. We design tailored projects that enable children and young people to experience dance as an art form and that also make links across the curriculum. One of our strengths is enabling teacher-artist partnerships to flourish so professional development is embedded through the projects.

Artsmark is Arts Council Englandís flagship programme which enables schools to evaluate, strengthen and celebrate their arts and cultural provision. East London Dance can support schools to achieve Artsmark status through provision of high-quality dance opportunities.

Dance is an excellent way of building pupilsí confidence, aspiration and self-esteem and East London Dance can work with schools to design projects utilising the Pupil Premium, to help raise the achievement of disadvantaged pupils.

Dance is also great for getting pupils active and healthy and East London Dance can work with primary schools to develop PE and Sport Premium projects.

East London Dance also offers INSET training and professional development for teachers.

Case Study

GCSE Dance Workshops
Client: Central Foundation School for Girls

Central Foundation School for Girls in Tower Hamlets wanted to bring in professional dance teachers to work with GCSE Dance students on the use of choreographic devices and fusion of dance styles.

East London Dance provided a bespoke 8-week programme of technique and choreographic workshops for the GCSE students. We designed 1.5 hour sessions that were delivered twice a week during school time by Alesandra Seutin with an assistant artist. Alesandra was able to combine her knowledge of the GCSE Dance curriculum with her professional experience and unique aesthetic, Afro-Eclectic, which fuses contemporary, African and street styles.
