OUR HOUSE 2022 Review

We have had a fantastic first year in our new home the Talent House and one of the highlights has been the OUR HOUSE programme where we were able to hand over creative control of our programming to independent artists and collectives for a week at a time, to make the decisions within our artistic offer and curate activity in the building for their communities and peers.

We are delighted to be able to share highlights from the events across the year below:

The AIM Connective – curated by AIM Collective:

In March we handed the building over to popping specialists AIM Collective for an OUR HOUSE takeover. It was fantastic to see the collective bring the building to life with Popping masterclasses, panel discussions, film screenings and a dance battle and more.

ReConnect – curated by Daniel Phung & Kayleigh Price:

In April dance creatives Daniel Phung and Kayleigh Price took over the Talent House for a week focused on bringing artists back together after two tough years. Re-connect brought dancers, musicians, and producers together to put the artistic community at the forefront, in a series of exchanges, presentations and dance events.

Cloud Castle & The Hive Festival – curated by Rain Crew:

In May 2022 breaking collective Rain Crew hosted hip hop dance battle Cloud Castle at East London Dance’s new home the Talent House as part of their OUR HOUSE Takeover. It was an action packed interactive evening of dance collaborations, random props and fun with a capital F.

Taking over East London Dance’s new home the Talent House in May 2022, dance collective Rain Crew hosted the Hive Festival as part of a week of cross-pollination of practice, skills and culture. With spoken word and dance performances, panel discussions, live drawing workshops, art installations and a breaking battle from the Cypher Network the event brought together an incredible array of talent for the local community to enjoy.

Continuum – curated by The Fi.ELD:

June saw our future innovators programme The Fi.ELD take over the building to curate a series of dance workshops, panel discussions  and events designed to equip early years dance creatives with knowledge and networks to create an environmentally and holistically sustainable career in the dance industry.
