The last pieces of 1000 Pieces Puzzle come together
24 February 2016
International dance exchange 1000 Pieces Puzzle devised by Cindy Claes with support from Zinnema finished with an electric performance at Rich Mix on 13 February.
30 emerging artists from the UK and Belgium embarked on two 5-day residencies in Belgium and in London working together to explore workshops in technique, choreography, dance film and collaboration as well as developing entrepreneurial and leadership skills. The programme included various daily challenges aiming to push everyone’s potential to the max, both personally and as artists.
It has been an incredible journey. We were joined by a film crew in Brussels and even made a slot on tvbrussels. The impact that the programme had on the artists and the connections made was also clear to see.
“It physically pushed me out of my comfort zone… The warmth and love I have received has been the best part and has had a profound impact on me, not just as a performer – but simply as a human being”
Elsabet Yonas, 1000 Pieces Puzzle participant
“What impacted me the most during the residency was the exchange of levels, talent, skills and encouragement and how free I felt to share and create”
Natalie Bailey, 1000 Pieces Puzzle participant
“My mind was more tired than my muscles most days and we had to problem solve, time manage, decision make very efficiently, particularly on the dance films and dance-theatre group pieces.”
Niquelle LaTouche, 1000 Pieces Puzzle participant
